CFHI works at 20+ sites in 5 countries with over 250 partners and has enrolled students from over 35 countries, with 5,000+ alumni to date. We have also partnered with leading universities, such as the University of California at Davis, Stanford University School of Medicine and Duke University's School of Nursing to create institutional programs that leverage the academic pedigree of the campus with the deep and longstanding relationships CFHI has cultivated with the community.
Our Recover program (1995 - 2008) transported more than $8 million worth of recovered medical supplies and equipment to underserved and disaster-stricken communities throughout the world.

Gunjan Sinha, Board Chair
Gunjan Sinha joined CFHI’s board in 2001. Gunjan is Chairman at MetricStream and is responsible for leading the strategy and execution with the company. Most recently, Gunjan served as eGain's co-founder and President and has spent over a decade in various product, sales management and executive positions developing, marketing and selling software and Internet services. At eGain (NASDAQ: EGAN) he led Sales, Marketing, Services since inception and served over 800 global customers in targeted financial services, telecom and retail verticals. Prior to eGain, he was the co-founder and President of WhoWhere? Inc., a leading Internet services company acquired by Lycos in 1998. Gunjan also co-founded Viman Software, Inc. and Parsec Technologies Pvt. Ltd. He obtained his BS and MS degrees in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology,
New Delhi and UC Santa Cruz, respectively. He also holds an MS in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from
Stanford
University . Mr. Sinha was one of the 50 most successful immigrant entrepreneurs in the United States.
Randi Ryan
Randi Ryan is a Real Estate Lending Expert with over nineteen years in the financial services industry. In 1983, Randi started her career in banking with Wells Fargo and then moved to Bank of America. In 1989, she decided to become a Mortgage Broker when a client loan that she believed in was declined. ProMortgage, Inc. was founded in 1996. Randi is a co-owner of the business. Randi works creatively and tries to utilize the most current technology to create the best options for her clients.Randi is also deeply interested in giving back. She has volunteered abroad and, on her own initiative, has visited some of the CFHI sites in India. She was deeply moved by her experience and it has motivated her to volunteer as a CFHI Board Member brining her business acumen and her passion for helping others to the CFHI global family.
Alan D. Biller Treasurer
Alan D. Biller is president of Alan D. Biller & Associates, Inc. of
Menlo Park, California , an investment consulting firm specializing in working with multiemployer benefit plans for more than 20 years. Mr. Biller has written several articles and serves as an expert witness on fiduciary investment management. He has a bachelor's degree from Yale, a master's degree from the

Laurie C. Zephyrin, MD, MPH, MBA Dr. Laurie C. Zephyrin joined CFHI’s board in January 2008.Dr. Zephyrin is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology, Clinical Population and Family Health and Clinical Health Policy and Management at
Columbia
University . In this capacity, Dr. Zephyrin practices Obstetrics and Gynecology, supervises and teaches residents and medical students and has a grant portfolio which includes research focusing on cost and health systems globally. She previously served as a White House Fellow at the Department of Veterans Affairs and was a Post-doctoral Fellow in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at

Dr. Zephyrin is a recipient of the 2005 American Medical Association Foundation Leadership Award and is an Emerging Leaders Life Fellow with the South Africa-Duke Center for Leadership and Public Values. Ajoy Mallik
Ajoy Mallik joined CFHI's board in 2003 and was the Chair from 2005 to 2007. Based in Saratoga, California, Ajoy has global responsibility for Venture Capital FOR TCS (TATA Consultancy Services) - Asia's largest software services company and part of the TATA group; the largest Indian business conglomerate. He serves as advisor, investor, and board member to several start-ups in the U.S and
In recent prior roles he served as head of business development and strategy for 123SignUp and Odesk. He has also worked at Peregrine Systems, responsible for the alliance with IBM's software group in
North America and EMEA. He holds an M.B.A. in International Business and Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the

Evaleen Jones, M.D., ex officio President/Founder & Medical Director Dr. Evaleen Jones founded Child Family Health International in 1992. She is a graduate of Stanford University School of Medicine and the
University of
California , San Francisco Family Medicine Residency. She currently holds a position on the Clinical Faculty at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Jones is an active member of the Global Health Medical Education Consortium (G.H.E.C.). Her commitment to the underserved stems from growing up in rural New Jersey and spending her college years in the Appalachian region of
Virginia , where poverty prevails. She began her work in international health taking trips to
Latin America as a medical student. Within five years, she founded CFHI, which is now a 3.4 million dollar organization that works with over 250 global partners, sending 700+ medical students abroad each year. She works actively to support the organization's growth and development, traveling extensively to strengthen sustainable healthcare for underserved communities worldwide. She is married, with two sons, Kodiak and Miles.
Scott Loeliger, MD
Dr. Loeliger is a family physician whose global health experience began from his work in the Peace Corps in Fiji in 1979.Dr. Loeliger currently works at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez, California, where he wears several hats as the director of the Mark Stinson Fellowship in Global Heath and Underserved Medicine.He also serves on a team overseeing family practice residents, and he is a member of the OB-GYN department.Dr. Loeliger also holds the position of Program Director for Global Health through Education and Training (GHETS) where he works to develop family medicine and primary healthcare in international settings.In addition to Fiji, his international work has taken him to a number of countries including Guatemala, Kenya, Somalia.In 2009, Dr. Loeliger is attending a meeting of the world association of family doctors in South Africa and will use this opportunity to visit CFHI sites there.
Steven E. Schmidbauer, ex officio Executive Director Steve Schmidbauer joined CFHI as Executive Director in 2004 where he is responsible for managing all global operations. Prior to 2004, he served six years as a program manager and director for one of the largest child and family service agencies in
California , where his work in innovative program development was recognized at state and national levels. In 1998, he received the Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the

Hayward . Prior to working in California, Steve was a volunteer teacher in Namibia (1982-1985) and from 1990-1993, he worked to support international relief efforts in Central and

Rebecca Lubitz Senior Program Coordinator Rebecca joined CFHI in April of 2008. As Senior Program Coordinator she works preparing prospective and enrolled participants for their global health education programs as well as conducting outreach for CFHI. Prior to working for CFHI Rebecca taught English at a language school in Brazil. She also worked for two years at the National Alliance for Hispanic Health, a D.C. based non-profit promoting Latino health and advocacy. Rebecca is originally from the D.C./Maryland area and has a B.A. from the
University of
Maryland ,
College Park in Anthropology and Latin American Literature.She enjoys studying languages and volunteers for Y.F.U., a cultural exchange organization for high school students. She has traveled extensively throughout Latin America, Europe, and the
Middle East and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
Polina Spivak Bookkeeper
Polina Spivak began working for CFHI as the Bookkeeper/Registrar at the end of November 2006. Polina handles various functions related to program payments and oversight of CFHI's accounting practices. She moved to
San Francisco in1996 from and worked for six years as a Financial Assistant in Walden House, Inc. In addition to this, Polina has a wealth of experience in accounting. After graduation she started working as an accountant in the Science/Development Institute and has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from
Odessa

University .
Evaleen Jones, M.D. President/Founder & Medical Director (bio above)
Hema Pandey India Coordinator Hema Pandey, an independent contractor based in
Delhi who serves as our India Coordinator, joined the CFHI team in 2005. She has been instrumental in establishing CFHI's growing presence in India, developing new program sites and researching CFHI's growth potential in-country. With more than 10 years of experience in the health field, Hema has handled a wide range of projects for government and non-government organizations in India, including the Indian government's Year of Scientific Awareness (YSA) 2004, which highlighted needs and issues related to disaster preparedness, health & nutrition, and soil & water conservation. She also worked with Heart Care Foundation of India (HCFI).
Nick Penco Student Programs Manager Nick Penco joined CFHI in the spring of 2005. He is a native of Buenos Aires, who has lived in the for over 20 years. He graduated with a bachelor's in International Relations from
San Francisco
State
University . He worked full time while in school in the hospitality industry, which served as a great benefit to CFHI, where he now works as a primary person communicating and supporting CFHI's 700 yearly students as well as international partners on a daily basis. Nick travels extensively for CFHI, facilitating bilingual evaluation site-visits around the world. He is also fluent in French, German and conversational Portuguese.

Avril Whate Africa Coordinator
Avril Whate was introduced to CFHI in 2004, but officially started work on April 1st of 2005, as Medical Director for the
Cape Town program before moving to the role of CFHI's Africa Coordinator in 2007. She is a registered nurse, and has worked for the Department of Health in for over 20 years. Avril has a B. Tech. Occupational Health Degree, a diploma in Nursing Management, a diploma in Community Health Nursing and midwifery and is a Clinical Nurse Practitioner, certified in Advanced Pediatric Life Support. Avril worked for many years at the
Grootte
Schuur
Hospital in the trauma unit, and from this experience became very passionate about three things: teaching, trauma nursing, and working on CFHI’s programs.
