CFHI's Community Health Projects build on a community's strengths, rather than focus on its needs or deficiencies. In 2005, CFHI launched our first round of Community Health Projects in an attempt to support community-driven projects devised by the doctors and other community leaders who host and teach our students. Our local community partners have designed a variety of projects addressing many and varied health needs and this "micro-gifting" allows them to offer their communities more and better services.

The Recover program, established in 1995, collects unused medical supplies and durable medical equipment from hospitals, medical supply companies, NGOs, private corporations and individuals in the US, and sends them to CFHI’s partner clinics and hospitals in underserved communities worldwide. To date, more than $8 million worth of salvaged medical supplies have been redistributed to CFHI partners worldwide.

Over the years, CFHI has supported our global partners to pursue professional development and training opportunities in their home countries and abroad. Whether it is a request for funding to attend an international conference, or for training in specific surgical procedures, CFHI tries to assist whenever possible. We have also provided collaborative partner exchange programs between global partners that focus on leadership and management and leadership strategies that offer the tools to administer the CFHI global health education programs.
